Touchwood
Be sure to drop in to Touchwood for lunch or afternoon tea. A great range of snacks and light meals are available.
We also operate a gallery of quality Tasmanian crafts, and three onsite bed and breakfast cottages.

Climb The Nut
If you're feeling fit, try climbing The Nut. The paved track winds it's way up the north-western side of this natural landmark.

The Nut Chairlift
Catch the chairlift to the top of The Nut. The chairlift connects with The Nut Walk.

The Nut Walk
Jutting abruptly out of the sea, The Nut is the most imposing landform feature of the area.
A walking track winds its way around the tableau with spectacular views of the area.
The Nut is classified as a State Reserve and a number of seabirds and other wildlife can be seen.

Highfield
One of the oldest buildings in the northwest of Tasmania is Highfield house,
being the early headquarters of the Van Diemens Land (VDL) Company.
Buildings on the site date from 1828 and represent fine examples of early colonial architecture.

Convict Ruins
Other buildings on the Highfield site include workshops, stables and an abbey.
There are also the old remains of the quarters where convict workers were housed.

Godfreys Beach
Godfreys beach provides clean sand and water for swimming, surfing & fishing.
BBQ & Picnic facilities are available, as well as a playground. The Penguin Rookery is also nearby.

Tatlows Beach
Tatlows beach is a very shallow beach with clean sand and water for safe family swimming. Millions of small crabs emerge from the sand at low tide.

Stanley Seaquarium
Located at the Mariner, The Seaquarium has a wide range of sealife on display in a number of displays, from shark tanks to rock pools.

Seal Viewing Tours
Seal viewing tours operate from the wharf area during the summer season.

Penguin Colony
Penguin viewing can be organised during the evenings at the Godfreys Beach penguin rookery.

The Wharf
Stanley has a reputation for great seafood.
Excellent fishing is available from the wharf area as well as the beaches.
Make sure you ask the locals for tips and infomation on current fishing hotspots.
Ocean and Trout fishing tours can also be organised.

An excellent 9 hole golf course and clubhouse are located in Stanley where visitors are most welcome.

Joseph Lyons Cottage
Joseph Lyons was Australia's only Tasmanian Prime Minister.
He was born in Stanley in this tiny cottage in 1879.
He began his working life as a teacher before entering politics.

Scenic Green Hills Drive
Lookouts and rural scenery reminiscent of England & Ireland.
Fields of poppies and daisies can be seen in summer and the scenic view from the
lookout tower at the top gives another perspective of our lovely town.
